I'm not much
of a poet - I've only written two or three in my life. But once in
a while I get inspired to try. This was written after I spent an afternoon
flying alone with an eagle in the mountains of Colorado.

An
Eagle And I
Lee A. Shurie

|
I,
Alone in the sky,
I fly.
The world with its troubles
And sorrows I leave.
I do not grieve.
For I am one
With clouds and sun.
The whisper of wind
So sweet in my ears;
And words not spoken,
Promises broken,
Are left behind;
Leaving my mind
Receptive
To free thoughts once more
As I alone soar
Where I belong,
In the sky.
An Eagle and I.
